Alfred Hitchcock\u2019s only child, daughter Patricia, has died at the age of 93.<\/p>\n

She died on Monday, August 9, 2021 at her home in Thousand Oaks, California<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Patricia Hitchcock O\u2019Connell, the only child of Alfred Hitchcock and an actor herself who made a memorable appearance in her father\u2019s \u201cStrangers on a Train\u201d and championed his work in the decades following his death, has died at age 93. https:\/\/t.co\/jB8COp1zSK<\/a><\/p>\n

Patricia was born in London in 1928, but her parents moved to California in 1939.<\/p>\n

She always wanted to be an actress so it was only natural that she would act in some of her father\u2019s most legendary films.<\/p>\n

1. Best Known For Her Role In\u00a0Psycho<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n

She is best known for her role in the 1960 classic\u00a0Psycho.<\/em><\/p>\n

Patricia played Janet Leigh\u2019s coworker and offered her a tranquilizer in that memorable scene.<\/p>\n

However, this is the third of her father\u2019s movies that Patricia acted in.<\/p>\n

She was in the 1950 film Stage Fright<\/em> and the 1951 movie Strangers on a Train.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Credited Her Mother For Dad\u2019s Career<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Patricia was never shy about giving her mother Alma ample credit for her father\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

In the 1997 documentary entitled The Making of \u2018Psycho<\/em><\/a>, Patricia said:<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother was the one who really was in on everything from the very beginning. When he would find a story that he was anxious to do, he would have her read it. If she didn\u2019t think it would make a picture, he didn\u2019t touch it. Then she would be the first one to read the treatment and the screenplay, and she was even in on a lot of the casting, too.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In 2003, she co-wrote a biography about her mother called: Alma Hitchcock: The Woman Behind The Man.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

3. Stayed Out Of The Public Eye To Raise Her Family<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Patricia largely retreated from doing acting projects in the 1970s to raise her family.<\/p>\n

She did appear in some movies of the week including: Skateboard<\/em>, Six Characters in Search of an Author<\/em>, and Ladies of the Corridor.<\/em><\/p>\n

Patricia married Joseph O\u2019Connell Jr. in 1952, and the couple had three daughters: Mary Alma Stone born in 1953, Teresa \u201cTere\u201d Carrubba born in 1954, and Kathleen \u201cKatie\u201d Fiala born in 1959.<\/p>\n

O\u2019Connell died in 1994.<\/p>\n
